Magazines have been the heartbeat of my work life. It has also been my friend Ki Nassauer’s. So when so many publishers stopped publishing our issues we both had to find another medium to share our love of homes and anything home related.

Darryl and Annie McCreary are a couple that does a lot of living in 24-hours. Both are small-business owners––Darryl is a fine craftsman and contractor, and Annie is a seamstress and designer.
It has been several months since I moved to beautiful Stonington Borough, the most charming little village only 4 miles away from Mystic, CT and 8 miles from the Rhode Island border. The house I rented is lovely but it came furnished and the rooms were painted in a variety of colors. This post is about how I updated the interior and ‘beautified’ the exterior, hence the before and after photos. Come on in!
It’s hard to imagine but this California cottage was had all the charms of a roadside motel. Today blue-painted clapboard (which was once bad stucco), flowerbeds, arbors, and an iconic picket fence transformed the home’s exterior.
