Sometime you meet someone who makes a lasting impression. And so it was when I met Maria Carr of Dreamy Whites fame (https://www.instagram.com/dreamywhiteslifestyle/?hl=en).. It was 10 years ago when we shot her ((then) northern California home for my first book Romantic Prairie Style.

I have a great affection for small homes and have been very lucky to be able to style hundreds of them over the years with Mark Lohman who has also photographed all my books. It always amazes me to see how resourceful and talented homeowners are. They take an ordinary house and turn it into a delightful and personal home. Case in point, Darielle Tennenbaum’s darling cottage in northern California.
Styles come and go but French Country is one that endures. It owes its longevity to its easy mix of elegance and comfort. I thought it would be a lovely one for the first of many posts and styles. I hope you will enjoy it and find ideas you can apply in your own home.
