I have a great affection for small homes and have been very lucky to be able to style hundreds of them over the years with Mark Lohman who has also photographed all my books. It always amazes me to see how resourceful and talented homeowners are. They take an ordinary house and turn it into a delightful and personal home. It’s hard to imagine but this California cottage was had all the charms of a roadside motel. Today blue-painted clapboard (which was once bad stucco), flowerbeds, arbors, and an iconic picket fence transformed the home’s exterior.
